Nigerian music superstar, David Adedeji Adeleke, also known as Davido, has opened up about his unsuccessful attempts to collaborate with fellow Afrobeats giant, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun also known as Wizkid, expressing disappointment over Wizkid’s refusal to work together on a joint project.
Recall that over the week, music star Wizkid has been slamming Davido with insults via his X account, which Davido never responded to until now.
In a statement he made via his Facebook page, Davido revealed that he had made several efforts to settle their long-standing differences and embark on a joint tour and album, but Wizkid declined.
“I have tried to go on a joint tour or do a joint album with Wizkid, but he refused,” Davido stated. “I don’t know what I did to him.”
According to Davido, the two had planned to meet last year to resolve their issues and discuss the possibility of working together, but Wizkid failed to show up for the meeting. “Wizkid and I planned to sit down and settle all our differences, then do a joint tour and a joint album together, but Wizkid refused. He didn’t even show up for the meeting,” Davido added.
Despite the ongoing tension, Davido maintained that he has no ill feelings towards Wizkid and described himself as being at peace with everyone in the industry. “I don’t have a problem with anybody in this industry, but they’re always hating me,” he said.
Addressing Wizkid directly, Davido noted, “If I wanna describe Wizkid, all I’ll say is ‘No Stress,’ but he’s acting childish.” He also mentioned that rapper Olamide had previously attempted to mediate between the two artistes, but his efforts to bring them together were unsuccessful.
However, Davido stressed that he holds no grudges against Wizkid and still harbors admiration for him. “Honestly, I don’t have any problem with Wizkid, and I still love him,” Davido concluded.
