Court remands secondary school student for raping mentally disabled woman

A certain Idris Alex Emeka, a student of Capital Government Day Secondary School, Jimeta-Yola, in Adamawa State, has reportedly been remanded for allegedly raping a mentally ill woman in the state.
Emeka who is said to have been charged with rape by the police, was arraigned at the Chief Magistrate Court 2 in Yola before the Magistrate, Musa Alhaji Adamu.
According to the prosecution officer, Inspector Galeon Nimrod, in his First Information Report, the 20-year-old was caught in the act with the mentally disabled woman on 26th June 2024.
He explained that the matter was reported at the Karewa Police Station by one Habu Jibrilla, a resident of the State Low-Cost Housing Estate in Jimeta.
The police officer explained further that Jibrilla, who happened to be a witness, caught Emeka engaging in sexual activity with the mentally unstable woman by the roadside at about 6:40 am.
“Jibrilla then apprehended the defendant and turned him over to the police,” Nimrod said.
Meanwhile, Emeka who pleaded guilty to the rape and having acknowledged having a carnal knowledge of the mentally disabled woman thrice, was remanded by the Magistrate.
