BBNaija Star Leo Dasilva Criticises Blind Religious Followership

Reality TV star and former Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) housemate, Leo Dasilva, has sparked debate with his recent statements on social media, where he expressed disapproval of people who rely heavily on their pastors’ words without personal inquiry or spiritual growth.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Dasilva wrote, “This is why I don’t even associate with anyone who holds onto ‘my pastor said’. Like, dude, ask God yourself.”
He went further to criticise the widespread practice of referring to pastors as “my daddy,” “my spiritual daddy,” or “my father in the Lord,” noting that these terms can sometimes contribute to uncritical devotion.
Dasilva, who attended theology school for two years, clarified that his intention was not to become a pastor but to deepen his own understanding of God’s word.
“If you claim to love God, you will try to learn about God yourself. It’s like saying you love someone you don’t even know,” he stated, urging believers to avoid blindly following religious leaders.
