Australian social Researcher, Mark Mccrindle has announced the beginning of a new generational cohort, Generation Beta, in 2025.
According to a report by the Daily Mail, written by the social researcher, who had been credited with naming previous generational labels, Generation Beta includes individuals born between 2025 and 2039.
This new group follows the recently concluded generation, Generation Alpha, which spans births from 2010 to 2024.
By 2035, McCrindle predicts that Generation Beta will constitute 16% of the global population, many of whom may live to witness the 22nd century.
With rapid technological advancements, Generation Beta is expected to be highly integrated with innovations like autonomous vehicles, wearable health devices, and immersive virtual environments.
Generational Naming Background
The practice of generational labeling began in the mid-20th century, during which generations during the post-World War II were called the “Baby Boom”.
This naming initiated the trend, in which researchers like Neil Howe and William Strauss later formalised by identifying and naming generations based on historical events and cultural trends.
Key generational cohorts preceding Generation Beta include:
Builders: 1925–1945
Boomers: 1946–1964
Generation X: 1965–1979
Millennials: 1980–1994
Generation Z: 1995–2009
Generation Alpha: 2010–2024
Generation Beta: 2025-2039
Generation Gamma: 2040 – 2054.
