The All-Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed deep sympathy with the government and citizens of Borno state, following the devastating flood caused by the overflow of the Alau Dam.
Felix Morka, the APC National Publicity Secretary, issued a statement on Wednesday in Abuja, condemning the unprecedented flooding that has caused havoc in Maiduguri and surrounding areas.
The flood has resulted in significant damage, destroying homes, farmlands, businesses, public buildings, and notably, the palace of the Shehu of Borno.
Morka conveyed the party’s heartfelt condolences to those displaced and affected by the disaster. He highlighted President Bola Tinubu’s response to the crisis, noting that the Vice-President, Senator Kashim Shettima has conducted an on-the-ground assessment in Maiduguri.
Following the assessment, Shettima has directed federal emergency services to collaborate with the Borno State government in evacuating displaced residents and providing necessary aid.
The APC has called on both state and federal agencies to intensify efforts in addressing the humanitarian challenges posed by the flooding.
