The founder of one of Ibadan-based radio stations, Agidigbo FM, Oriyomi Hamzat, has been released from Agodi Correctional Centre, Ibadan, Oyo State, after perfecting his bail conditions.
Oriyomi, as widely called, regained freedom with his co-accused, former Queen of Ooni of Ife, Naomi Silekuna, and the principal of Islamic High School, Bashorun, Abdulahi Fasasi.
Recall Africa Culture TV reported that these trio were remanded over their alleged involvement in the Ibadan stampede which led to the deaths of 35 children in December 2024.
The Oyo State Government filed an 18-count criminal charge against the three parties involved after the tragic incident.
The trio was accused of offenses including conspiracy to commit murder, manslaughter, criminal negligence, and other related charges.
However, the judge of Oyo State High Court, Justice K. B. Olawoyin, on Monday, admitted the suspects to bail with a bond of ₦10 million each and two sureties in like sums.
Meanwhile, Oriyomi, upon regaining his freedom on Tuesday, was received by a large crowd at his broadcasting station, where he burst into tears while addressing the people.
He said: “Oriyomi is back. At this time, I am in a moment of silence. Thank you very much.”
