The 10th edition of the Open Forum on Agriculture Biotechnology (OFAB) Africa Media Awards took place in Malawi, with several African journalists emerging as winners. The awards ceremony, held last evening, recognized outstanding contributions by journalists in promoting agricultural biotechnology.
Chaltu Golocha Miessa from Ethiopia was named the overall winner for her exceptional television piece on biotechnology. Her in-depth reporting and engaging storytelling set a high standard for agricultural journalism.
In the Radio category, Mildrine Sebwani from Kenya took top honors, while Chinasa Osai from Nigeria was named the runner-up. Their radio pieces showcased the impact of agricultural biotechnology on African communities.
Onche Odeh from Nigeria emerged as the winner in the Print and Online category, with Annonciata Byukusenge from Rwanda taking the runner-up position. Their articles demonstrated a deep understanding of agricultural biotechnology and its potential to transform African agriculture.
The OFAB Africa Media Awards aim to encourage journalists to explore the complexities of agricultural biotechnology and its role in addressing Africa’s food security challenges.
