MALAWI: Malawi’s Fuel Supply Restored After Mozambique Pipeline Disruption

By Smile Hamilton, Malawi
The National Oil Company of Malawi (NOCMA) has resumed fuel supply after a brief disruption caused by a pipeline burst in Mozambique. The incident occurred a few days ago, affecting fuel availability.
Fuel supply resumed on Saturday after drivers struggled to find petrol. The shortage led to long queues at fueling stations, causing inconvenience to motorists.
According to NOCMA spokesperson Raymond Likambale, the company utilized an alternative route through Tanzania to mitigate the shortage. This swift response ensured minimal disruption to Malawi’s fuel supply.
Likambale assured that ten fuel tanker trucks arrived in Blantyre, alleviating concerns about the shortage. Normal fuel supply is expected to continue, providing relief to consumers.
The pipeline burst in Mozambique highlighted the importance of diversifying fuel supply routes. NOCMA’s proactive measures prevented widespread fuel shortages, demonstrating the company’s resilience.
NOCMA has pledged to maintain close monitoring of the fuel supply chain to prevent future disruptions. Motorists can now access fuel without restrictions, restoring normalcy to Malawi’s transportation sector.
