MALAWI: *President Lazarus Chakwera Returns Home On October 5 After Successful UN Visit

Malawi President, Lazarus Chakwera, is expected to return home on October 5 from his diplomatic trip to America, where he attended the 78th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.
According to a press release by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lilongwe, the president will arrive at Kamuzu International Airport at 3:45 pm.
Chakwera had spent two weeks engaging with world leaders, addressing pressing global issues and advancing Malawi’s interests. During his stay, he addressed the UNGA, emphasizing the need for climate action and sustainable development.
He also held meetings with leaders from the United States, China, and European Union to discuss economic cooperation and investment.
In addition to these high-level meetings, President Chakwera participated in the UN Climate Action Summit, where he pledged Malawi’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions.
He also attended the Africa-US Leaders’ Summit, focusing on trade, investment, and security. Furthermore, he met with Malawian diaspora communities in the United States to discuss investment opportunities and national development.
Upon arrival, President Chakwera is expected to address the nation on key outcomes from his trip. He will also meet with Cabinet ministers to implement agreements and commitments made during the visit and outline plans for Malawi’s continued engagement with international partners.
The President’s successful trip is anticipated to boost Malawi’s economic growth, improve international cooperation, and enhance the country’s reputation on the global stage.
