By Smile Hamilton Malawi
The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) says it plans to engage the government to ensure that all district councils establish strong and effective internal audit systems aimed at protecting Constituency Development Fund (CDF) resources.
Vice President of the institution, Priscilla Guzani Nyirenda, made the remarks in an interview after a physical fitness event organized as part of awareness activities marking the month of May, which has been set aside to commemorate internal auditors.
Nyirenda said the IIA is seeking to increase its relevance in national development by promoting accountability, transparency, and proper management of public resources at council level.
She also disclosed that Malawi is expected to host an international conference in May next year under the African Federation of Institutes of Internal Auditors (AFIIA), which is expected to attract more than 3,000 delegates from across the world.
Meanwhile, Peter Alex Banda said the Lilongwe City Council will ensure the city is fully prepared to provide an exciting experience for all visitors attending
the event.
