163 Hours Completed: Ayodeji Breaks Guinness World Record For Longest Marathon Film Watching

Fatunla Ayodeji, one of Nigeria’s leading movie critics, has achieved an extraordinary feat by completing 163 hours of non-stop movie watching, surpassing the previous Guinness World Record of 121 hours and 18 minutes set by Suresh Joachim in 2015.
Although the Guinness World Record is yet to officially confirm the achievement, the atmosphere at Lagos Theatre, Igando, where the event took place, has been one of jubilation and excitement, as supporters, cheerleaders, and well-wishers have been celebrating this historic moment.
Ayodeji began his attempt on December 8, 2024 and concluded the challenge on Sunday, December 15,2024, completing a remarkable 163-hour marathon.
The event, tagged “160 Hours of Nonstop Movie Watching”, sponsored by Combo Entertainment, with Untitled Creatives as the official media partners, saw Ayodeji watch over 80 films, showcasing his love for movies and his determination to make history.
“I know it takes a whole lot of commitment and determination to want to do this but I really want to break the Guinness World Record for the longest hours of watching movies.
“I think the latest GWR so far that I am pretty sure of is about nine years plus now but I feel like I want to break this record, I feel great because there is a lot of things I look at when it comes to watching movies.
“As a movie critic, I also feel like I want to do something great for myself and I feel ready and I feel like this is a go, go, and this is going to be a win, win,” he noted.
Ayodeji’s dedication and resilience have made him achieve his goals, and As the world awaits the official recognition from Guinness World Records, Ayodeji’s accomplishment has already made waves and has brought pride to Nigeria.
During the challenge, some of the notable people who came to support Ayodeji, includes: Former Commissioner of Youth and Social Development, Uzamat Akinbile Yusuf, popular Nollywood actors, Kalu Ikeagwu and Okey Uzoeshi among others.
